Regarding material selection, we often use PMMA PC, among which PMMA-VH001 and PC-1250Z are the most commonly used in many projects we have done. The characteristics of these two are particularly suitable for common industrial lighting fixtures indoors and outdoors, or street lamps, architectural lighting, and are cost-effective. Of course, we choose materials based on the customer's usage characteristics, or we make them based on the materials recommended by the customer. So here we also briefly talk about how we should choose plastic raw materials for lighting application lenses:
1. Optical Clarity
PMMA (Acrylic) and PC (Polycarbonate) are both popular choices due to their excellent optical transparency. PMMA typically offers higher light transmission, making it ideal for applications where maximum clarity is needed.
PC, while slightly less transparent, is still highly clear and offers better impact resistance.

2. Durability and Impact Resistance
PC is known for its toughness and high impact resistance, making it suitable for environments where the lenses might be exposed to physical stress or impacts, such as in street lights or industrial fixtures.
PMMA is more brittle compared to PC, but it has better scratch resistance, which can be beneficial in applications where the lens surface needs to remain clear over time.

3. UV Resistance
For outdoor applications like street lighting and architectural lighting, UV stability is crucial to prevent yellowing and degradation over time. Both PMMA and PC can be treated or selected with specific grades (like PMMA-VH001 and PC-1250Z) to improve UV resistance.
